PlantChem AS was established in 2002 as a phytochemistry laboratory with a special attention to the chemistry and occurrence of plant phenolics in particular flavonoids. Today the laboratory perform analyses of a range of phytochemicals, from vitamins through pigments to aroma compounds and minerals. As a producer of pure flavonoids and other phenolics, the laboratory is highly skilled with respect to extraction and isolation of plant compounds.
PlantChem AS is partner in several research projects involving growth and quality enhancement of berries, fruits and vegetables. Since 2003 much attention has been paid to greenhouse cultures of tomatoes in Norway. Also other greenhouse cultures as cucumber, lettuce, sweet pepper and herbs are under investigation. We are also involved in clinical trials in order to reveal health impacts of specific plants or plant products. Other partners in these projects involve Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy (Nibio), Norwegian Food Research Institute (Nofima), University of Oslo (UiO), University of Stavanger (UiS), University of Agder (UiA), Wageningen University & Research (WUR), Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU), and various enterprises.

The company act as a consultant for some small enterprises with productions of berries, fruits, vegetables or refined products (e.g. extracts or isolates).

PlantChem AS has since 2015 been located in Eiken, Norway.
